Referrals
Looking for Play Therapy for a child or young person?
Choose the referral pathway below that best suits you.
Private referrals
Private referrals can be made by parents and carers, as well as professionals involved in supporting a child or young person, including headteachers, SENCOs, social workers, GPs and other education or healthcare professionals.
You can get in touch with me directly by telephone, email or through the contact form.
I aim to respond within 48 hours to arrange a free 15-minute telephone consultation. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to Play Therapy, any questions you may have and whether I may be able to offer appropriate support.
If we agree that a Play Therapy referral may be appropriate, I will send you a referral pack to complete. We can then arrange a suitable day and time for a comprehensive Play Therapy assessment.
Before therapeutic work begins, consent must be obtained from the child or young person’s legal guardian. The child or young person’s own assent to taking part is also an important part of the process.
Schools and Organisations
Play Therapy referrals can also be made through schools and other organisations supporting children and young people.
I work with schools and organisations across South-East Buckinghamshire and nearby areas, providing therapeutic support for children and young people within educational and community settings.
If you are considering making a referral, we can arrange an initial conversation to discuss the needs of the child or young person, the reason for referral and the most appropriate way forward.
Wider therapeutic support
Schools and organisations can also get in touch to discuss wider therapeutic support. This can be tailored to the needs of your setting and may include:
One-to-one Play Therapy and creative therapeutic work
Small-group therapeutic work
Consultation and support for staff
Parent support and attachment-based programmes
Mental health and wellbeing workshops or assemblies
Fees for schools and organisations are available on request, with half-day and full-day rates available where appropriate.
Looking for something beyond therapeutic support?
Playminded also works with schools and nurseries through Playminded Pause yoga, movement and play sessions, programmes and workshops, alongside parent support.
Further information about the different ways Playminded can work within a setting can be found on the Schools & Nurseries page.
